The Slender Man was created at the Something Awful Forums in a thread entitled “Create Paranormal Images.” He is described as wearing a black suit strikingly similar to the visage of the notorious Men In Black, and as the name suggests, appears very thin and able to stretch his limbs and torso to inhuman lengths in order to induce fear and ensnare his prey. Once his arms are outstretched, his victims are put into something of a hypnotized state, where they are utterly helpless to stop themselves from walking into them. He is also able to create tendrils from his fingers and back that he uses to walk on in a similar fashion to Doc Ock, the Spider-Man villain in the Marvel Universe. The superhuman stretching ability could also be seen as a similiarty between himself and Mr. Fantastic of the Fantastic Four. Whether he absorbs, kills, or mearly takes his victims to an undiclosed location or dimension is also unknown as there are never any bodies or evidence left behind in his wake to deduce a definite conclusion.
Not much is known, as no specific information has been found about origins, but his objective and habitat are made very clear. He has the need to kidnap children, and is seen right before the disappearance of a child or multiple children. He seems to prefer fog enshrouded streets and wooded areas as a way to conceal himself from being noticed. It should also be noted that children have been able to see him when no other adults in the vicinity could. Children also have dreams or nightmares concerning The Slender Man before their disappearance. Confiding these stories to their parents are met with the usual parental admonition: overactive imaginations.
Even though The Slender Man is fairly new in the media, people have already claimed sightings. He appears to the unwitting mostly at night, and most always peering out of wooded areas or near rivers. He has also been reported to peek inside left open windows and to walk out in front of lone motorists on long uninhabited roads. The Slender Man or men, have appeared everywhere from Japan, Norway, and America to name a growing few.

Could there be a slenderman?
I know that there’s no way it could be real but there could still be a possibility that he’s real because of the original story of the slenderman which is of the reporter who took a photograph of the soo called slenderman. Who said “we didn’t want to go, we didn’t want to kill them, but it’s persistent silence and outstretched arms horrified and comforted us at the same time”. This was in 1983 where the reporter was presumed dead after the interview with the man who said this. Which later on there was a fire where the original pictures where which meand someone had the intention to destroy the evidence of this soo called Slenderman. The only one picture of the two was recovered and taken into evidence of the case. But the picture was of a tall man wearing a dark suite with tendrils were coming out him. But the weird thing about this is this is BEFORE the internet meme was made so how could this have happened when it didn’t exist yet? And that is my question and possible evidence of his existence, thank you for your time and please tell me what you think of this.

._. Those are just fictional stories and photos that have been altered(Photoshopped), he was created in the Something Awful Forums, for a contest, and won apparently. Then they took it too far I presume, and made up loads of stories and pictures to scare children/teens on the internet.
My idea of how they thought/created of Slender man:
Tall Guy+Jack Skellington+Octopus=Slenderman they added a blank face for the extra Scare.

What is the Slenderman?
I’ve heard from a friend that some guys made up a youtube video about a myth called the “Slenderman” a guy with long legs and arms and wears a buisness suit and has no face… I haven’t heard of it before he told me, and I think it sounds stupid… but has anyone here ever seen it and would like to summarize the story behind the myth?

The Slender Man is a made-up mythical creature, originally created by members of the SomethingAwful internet community. He looks like a tall and unnaturally thin man who, yes, wears a business suit. Some of the images also display him with some sort of tentacles or other appendages. He apparently preys on children.
Some information on him: http://www.mythicalcreaturesguide.com/page/Slender+Man
The place he was created: http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3150591&userid=0&perpage=40&pagenumber=1
It’s a page or two in, and he keeps popping up for the duration of the thread.

What are some good short horror stories?
I am addicted to Creepypastas and I am beginning to get into writers like H.P. Lovecraft. What are some good short or ongoing online horror stories I might also enjoy? I tend to like the stories that have creepy creatures in them, such as “The Rake”, “Slenderman” or “Dagon”, yet it is better if the have a bit of realism in them. Like psychological horror in a way. Any help would be appreciated.

Word, I’m reading a HPL biography right now.
I’ll suggest authors since it’s way easier:
August Derleth
Arthur Machen
Stephen King (check out Skeleton Crew, Different Seasons, and Night Shift for short stories)
Lin Carter
Brian Lumley (esp. The Taint and The Burrowers Beneath)
Clive Barker
