Egyptian Queen
Egyptian queens dressed in royal-looking pleated garb. Like any other Egyptian outfit, it starts with a simple tunic. Queens wore sleeveless or short-sleeved tunics of white linen. Choose a gown or tunic with no collar. To look like an authentic royal queen, you’ll need robes too. Use a white prepleated material cut into a rectangular shape; it should be floor length. After cutting a hole for your neck, slip it on. Historical records show that queens’ robes were knotted in the front, at the waist. Wear a wide collar necklace of bright-colored stones. Make one using cardboard and acrylic paints. Wear gold-colored sandals, bracelets and rings. Wear an Egyptian-style crown with a snake’s head on the top that you’ve shaped with wire. Your queenly makeup should consist of lots of black eyeliner. Include a black wig with bangs for the forehead.
Pharaoh
Pharaohs were the male kings of Egypt. The young King Tut is probably the most popular of the Egyptian kings. Make a King Tut-style costume starting with a simple white tunic. The tunic can vary in length from mid-thigh to floor. Linen material makes the best tunic and is the most representative of history. You’ll need a wide gold belt to cinch at your waist. Kings also sometimes wore royal pleated robes. Add a gold cuff bracelet at each wrist. You’ll need a royal-looking collar necklace with colorful stones. Wear a King Tut-style headpiece. Buy a yard of shiny gold material and draw on 1-inch black lines with a permanent marker. Wear the headpiece with the sides tucked behind your ears. Spray a pair of sandals gold. Kings of the time also wore eye makeup to protect their eyes from the hot rays of the sun. Line your eyes with black eyeliner.
Egyptian Dancer
No one knows for sure where belly dancing started. Many cultures have belly dancing, but it’s the exotic Egyptian dancers who catches the attention of many. Beautiful Egyptian dancer costumes would be perfect for a woman who wants a little attention. An Egyptian dancer’s costume is usually in two pieces. The top can be sleeveless or with sheer long sleeves. The bra or bosom covering usually has decorative stones or bead work on it. The bottom is a skirt with side slits. The slits on the skirt can be quite high; wear undershorts to prevent exposing too much. The skirt should be made of lightweight material. Belly chains or decorative belts add a touch of Eastern mystique to this costume. Some women wear veils when dancing, others do not. Traditionally dancers wore bells on their anklets, wrists and waist that tinkled softly as they danced. Dancers can wear sandals or even pretty high heels

Nancy asks…
What male costume would complement a female Ancient Egyptian style costume?
My friend is going as something like an Ancient Egyptian princess, and I have been having a hard time find a costume to compliment that. Any ideas? For a teen (16)
Well, I want to thank you all for ideas, and I’ll still look at new ones, but I’ve got a new idea, and that would be to go as Anubis. Does anyone know of any cheap materials I could use to make an Anubis head or mask.

Did ancient Egyptian slaves really wear those bracelets?
In the movies, it seems like any time the story takes place in ancient Egypt, and slaves are involved, the slaves always wear these metal armbands or bracelets. Also, Halloween costumes of Egyptian slaves all include the same kind of bracelets/armbands.
Did the ancient Egyptians really do that? If so, why? Presumably, it was something involuntary for the slave. Was it for identification purposes?
And if they didn’t really, how did that stereotype get started?
Please don’t speculate as your answer. Answer only if you actually know some history or something relevant to my question.
Thanks.

All ancient Egyptians of every class wore bracelets, pendants, earrings, rings, [usually scarab type]…
The wealthy and royal, of course wore gold, silver and precious stone in their jewelry, but ordinary Egyptians also wore jewelry made of less expensive material…
Most of the ‘slaves’ you see in films are nothing but fiction….servants were plentiful, of course, and used by both royalty as well as the wealthy nobles and ‘well-off’ merchants and business people…
They were much like your ‘domestics’ of today…paid for their services… Although usually in material goods, such as food, clothing, and jewelry or other products…. And in most instances the servant and family were housed, fed, clothed etc…
Being the servant in a royal or noble house was considered an honor in most ‘serving’ families and was also an inherited position, for the most part….
There was a class of laborers, who worked in various businesses and on farms, but these were not considered ‘slaves’…
[‘slaves’ were usually enemy soldiers, or non-combatants taken in a battle or war….or criminals…
They usually worked in the various types of Egyptian mines, or other ‘hard labor’ duties….the non-combatants were usually ‘Egyptianized’ quite quickly, and although they may have been ‘domestic slaves’, they also were usually free to come and go when they were allowed…these made up a very small percentage of the ‘servants’ in an Egyptian household]…
“Slaves, not as utterly without rights as they often were in other slave-owning societies, were relatively few in numbers, and it is debatable whether they should be looked on as a different social class.”
“Everyone in Egypt wore some type of jewelry. Rings and amulets were especially worn to ward off the evil spirits and injury. Both men and women wore pierced earrings, armlets, bracelets, and anklets. The rich wore jeweled or beaded collars, called a wesekh, necklaces, and pendants. For the rich, jewelry was made of gold, silver, or electrum (gold mixed with silver) and inlaid with semi-precious stones of turquoise, lapis lazuli (a deep blue stone), and carnelian (a copper or reddish orange stone). The poorer people wore jewelry that was made of copper or faience (made by heating powdered quartz).”

Any ideas for an ancient Greek/Roman/Egyptian costume?
There’s a thing called Ancients Day coming up at my school and it is in 3 weeks. I need to make a costume that is of a person in the ancient times, such as a warrior or a Greek goddess.
The only problem is that the costume will need to be pretty warm, as it is nearing winter here. So something like a jacket or jumper will be necessary.
Also, i only have 3 weeks to make it, so it will need to be something quick and easy.
P.S. I am a girl and 13 years old
If you have any suggestions, please answer.
Thank-you

So for this weekend, I’m having an ancient egyptian-themed costume party and I want to have some music that is done by modern-day artists that have some egyptian twist to them. I’d prefer pop or rock, but SOME hip-hop/r&b/rap is okay. Help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
